NEW YORK — Bloomberg View today announced that columnist
\nJeffrey Goldberg is joining Bloomberg View full-time. While he
\nwill continue his column, he will expand his writing to a range
\nof faster-paced forms suited to the digital age. <\/p>\n

\u201cJeff is an extraordinary journalist,\u201d said David Shipley,
\nexecutive editor of Bloomberg View. \u201cHe has a special ability to
\nwrite incisive opinion based on hard reporting. He will be
\npivotal in helping us reinvent the role of the columnist in a
\ndigital world.\u201d <\/p>\n

Goldberg, who has written for The Atlantic for the past several
\nyears, was previously the Washington correspondent for The New
\nYorker. Prior to that, he was a writer for The New York Times
\nMagazine, covering the Middle East and Africa. He has also
\ncovered the mafia for New York magazine, served as the New York
\nbureau chief of the Forward and been a columnist for the
\nJerusalem Post. He began his career as a police reporter for the
\nWashington Post. Goldberg will continue to contribute longer
\nessays and reported pieces to The Atlantic. <\/p>\n

Goldberg\u2019s \u201cPrisoners\u201d (2006) was widely-hailed as one of the
\nyear\u2019s best books. He is the recipient of numerous awards,
\nincluding the 2003 National Magazine Award for Reporting for his
\ncoverage of Islamic terrorism, the International Consortium of
\nInvestigative Journalists prize for best international
\ninvestigative journalist, and the Overseas Press Club award for
\nbest human rights reporting. He is also the recipient of 2005\u2019s
\nAnti-Defamation League Daniel Pearl Prize. <\/p>\n

In 2001, Goldberg was appointed the Syrkin Fellow in Letters of
\nthe Jerusalem Foundation and was appointed in 2002 to be a
\npublic policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center
\nfor Scholars in Washington, D.C. <\/p>\n
