If you know anything about Bloomberg\u2019s Sydney office you know it\u2019s gorgeous \u2013 with stunning views of the harbor (er, harbour) and city at every turn (it\u2019s circular). And you know it\u2019s green. One hundred employees occupy the top two floors (27 and 28) of Australia\u2019s most sustainable and coveted office building: 1 Bligh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To Keeley Wayne, facilities manager for Australia and New Zealand, \u201cIt\u2019s like moving into your dream home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since joining Bloomberg in London in 2001, Wayne has visited many offices in Europe while working for Tradebook. More recently she\u2019s been to the offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, and New York. So when she says the outdoor roof terrace in Sydney is enviable, you better be jealous.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we\u2019re striving to do is make our offices a venue, or a hub for corporate, financial, philanthropic, and government circles in Australia,\u201d says Edward Johnson, Sydney\u2019s bureau chief, who refers to the building as \u201ctremendous\u201d and notes the \u201cmagnificent 150-seat auditorium that opens out onto the space, with huge doors that cantilever up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloomberg has since hosted a roundtable CEO lunch, a wine tasting, an M&A panel, and an economic summit addressed by former Treasurer Wayne Swan, Reserve Bank of Australia Assistant Governor Chris Kent, and BHP Billiton CFO Graham Kerr. The office was also the location for the announcement of a major new solar project.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur visibility and profile in Australia has never been higher,\u201d says Johnson.<\/p>\n

Of course it helps that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices for key Sydney-based ministers \u2013 like Prime Minister Tony Abbott \u2013 are a few floors below. Staffers are eager to ride the elevator up to check out the view.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really managing to leverage the wonderful space and hope to continue this process in the New Year with a series of speeches by CEOs, ministers, and high profile figures. The series will be called the \u2018Bloomberg Address,\u2019 modeled on the \u2018City Address\u2019 series in London,\u201d says Johnson.<\/p>\n

The office is used by employees, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur work environment really sets us apart,\u201d says Wayne, referring to the space that allows for quiet time to work on daily tasks, coffee meetings, lunch breaks, brainstorming gatherings, and team meetings. Oh, and weekly, after hours yoga classes in the auditorium. The interior design creates the right space for each action.<\/p>\n

Now you just need a reason to meet someone Down Under.<\/p>\n
