Hong Kong <\/em>\u2014 Bloomberg today announced the launch of a new data field that indicates whether a green bond aligns with the Hong Kong Insurance Authority (HKIA)\u2019s new valuation and capital guidelines<\/a>, helping insurance firms and other financial institutions comply with regulatory requirements for sustainable investment. The new data field was launched at the \u201cSustainable Debt: Catalyzing Capital for Climate Leadership\u201d conference hosted by Bloomberg during Hong Kong Green Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new HKIA Sustainable Indicator field provides a clear, independent classification for green bonds that meet the eligibility requirements set out in HKIA\u2019s latest supervisory guidance on the treatment of green assets under the Risk-based Capital (RBC) regime. The field “HKIA_Sustainable_Indicator”[1]<\/a> is available across Bloomberg Terminal functions and Bloomberg Enterprise Data services. The field supports portfolio construction, regulatory reporting, and risk analysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Hong Kong strengthens its position as a regional green finance hub, the market needs trusted, transparent tools to assess eligibility with evolving regulatory frameworks,\u201d said Joshua Kendall, Head of Sustainable Fixed Income at Bloomberg. \u201cOur new HKIA alignment field supports insurance firms in integrating new valuation and capital guidelines into their processes, and reflects our commitment to provide clients with sustainable finance and regulatory solutions that help them make more informed decisions and meet regulatory requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n

The field is powered by Bloomberg\u2019s extensive sustainable debt dataset, which captures detailed bond-level information on use of proceeds, third-party verification, issuer disclosures, and taxonomy mapping. It enables users to screen and monitor green bonds in alignment with HKIA and other global requirements based on publicly reported data, and complements Bloomberg\u2019s broader fixed income products.<\/p>\n

The field is available now to Bloomberg Terminal and Data License clients.<\/p>\n
