A poll conducted at the event revealed that 60% of respondents are primarily using forward contracts to hedge RMB exposure. In addition, 67% of respondents felt the value of the RMB will sit between 6.90 and 7.10 by the end of the 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-35310\" src=\"https:\/\/data.bloomberglp.com\/company\/sites\/2\/2017\/03\/Graph-1.jpg\" alt=\"Graph 1\" width=\"499\" height=\"320\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-35311\" src=\"https:\/\/data.bloomberglp.com\/company\/sites\/2\/2017\/03\/Graph-2.jpg\" alt=\"Graph 2\" width=\"389\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Audience Poll at Bloomberg &amp; HKEX Event<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jeffrey Leckstein, head of sales for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea for Bloomberg noted, \u201cThis product is being introduced at a time when China\u2019s equity and bond markets are opening up to foreign investors and its currency continues to gain global prominence.\u201d He added, \u201cI\u2019m excited to see these new contracts flow seamlessly into our system, where users already have access to a suite of world-class risk management tools on one single workflow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since its inclusion in the International Monetary Fund\u2019s SDR basket, the RMB continues to emerge as one of the world\u2019s most important currencies. These newly introduced standardized USD\/CNH options contracts by HKEX offer:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flexibility of trading and hedging strategies for various market conditions<\/li>\n<li>Limited counterparty risk, with HKEX acting as central clearing counterparty<\/li>\n<li>Transparency and efficiency of standardized exchange-traded contracts<\/li>\n<li>Cost effectiveness of trading on a margin basis<\/li>\n<li>Block trade facilities and tenor coverage up to 16 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Julien Martin, HKEX\u2019s Head of Fixed Income and Currencies Product Development, added, \u201cThese contracts cement Hong Kong\u2019s role as a gateway for cross-border fund flows and as a risk management centre for the internationalization of the RMB.
