Bloomberg is honored to announce the Bloomberg Global Aggregate Green, Social and Sustainability (GSS) Bond Index<\/a> was recognized as \u2018Index of the Year\u2019 in the 2024 Environmental Finance Sustainable Debt Awards.<\/p>\n

“The Bloomberg Green, Social, and Sustainability (GSS) Bond Index raises the bar, setting a new standard for transparency and timeliness as a benchmark of the global sustainable debt market,\u201d said Jonathan Gardiner, Sustainable Indices Product Manager, Bloomberg Index Services Limited. \u201cBased on the market-leading Bloomberg Global Aggregate Index and incorporating Bloomberg’s rigorously evaluated sustainable debt indicators, the Bloomberg GSS index is the benchmark of choice for investors seeking the most current and accurate reflection of this rapidly growing market.”<\/p>\n

As \u2018Index of the Year,\u2019 the Bloomberg GSS Bond Index is recognized for providing a robust and accurate exposure to the sustainable debt market. The index is based on Bloomberg\u2019s flagship Global Aggregate index, but for the first time incorporates sustainable debt fields curated by Bloomberg\u2019s dedicated ESG data team. Inclusion criteria for the index is also based on alignment to the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) Green Bond, Social Bond and Sustainability Bond Principles and Guidelines. Additional research and engagement with issuers by the Bloomberg ESG data team ensure that new issues are not only tagged appropriately but included in the index in a timely manner ahead of monthly rebalancing. This process affords clients seamless integration across Bloomberg\u2019s fixed income analytical suite, as well as additional Terminal functions, to meet the varied needs of the investment community exploring this growing market.<\/p>\n

After launching with 24 indices, the GSS bond index family has already grown to more than 70 indices through a series of specific sector, maturity and currency focused indices. The index has sparked further innovation within Bloomberg\u2019s Sustainable Indices lineup including the innovative green-tilted fixed income indices<\/a>, which seek to increase weighting to green bonds in some of Bloomberg\u2019s flagship indices such as the Global Aggregate, Treasury and Corporate Indices.<\/p>\n

The annual Sustainable Debt Awards, formerly known as the Environmental Finance Bond Awards, celebrates the leading green, social, sustainable, and sustainability-linked bond and loan deals, and recognizes market innovations.
