Hong Kong \u2013 Bloomberg and the China Asset Management Association of Hong Kong (HKCAMA) announced the winners at their eighth annual Offshore China Fund Awards. Leading offshore Chinese asset managers and industry leaders in the region attended the awards ceremony in Hong Kong, where a total of 36 awards were distributed to firms for their outstanding performance and contributions to China\u2019s offshore fund industry. The awards that are derived from data are calculated using proprietary methodologies from data compiled by Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

Keynote speeches were delivered by Michael Wong Wai-lun, GBS, JP, Deputy Financial Secretary of Hong Kong SAR Government, Joseph Chan, JP, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christina Choi, Executive Director, Securities and Futures Commission Investment Products Division, Madam Doris Lian, Chairperson of HKCAMA and Dahai Wang, Head of Greater China for Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

Michael Wong Wai-lun, Deputy Financial Secretary of Hong Kong SAR Government, congratulated the award winners at the event and noted that<\/a>, \u201cThe government will continue to actively promote a series of measures to further enhance Hong Kong’s status as an asset and wealth management hub in Asia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christina Choi, Executive Director, Securities and Futures Commission Investment Products Division, said at the event \u201cWe will continue to work very closely with the industry and other authorities in bringing forth many more enhancements to our mutual market access initiatives with the Mainland. This would include the Swap Connect, the launch of Treasury bond futures in Hong Kong, Renminbi trading for Southbound Stock Connect, the Greater Bay Area Wealth Management Connect expansion and enhancements to our Mutual Recognition of Funds scheme.” She added, “All of these will no doubt reinforce Hong Kong as a leading asset and wealth management centre, and a premier investment link and risk management centre for Chinese markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph Chan, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and Treasury, said, \u201cWith concerted efforts from across this industry, Hong Kong\u2019s capital markets are thriving. Hong Kong has developed into a world-class international asset and wealth management center with advantages including a sound legal system, favourable tax environment, liquid capital markets, and a diversified talent pool.\u201d He added, \u201cThe Hong Kong SAR government will continue to actively promote measures to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s asset and wealth management industry, including introducing diversified fund structures, providing a more favorable tax environment for the fund industry, expanding the fund distribution network, developing the REITs market, and promoting the family office industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
