We know that talent is everywhere, but access isn\u2019t. By giving young people hands-on learning, mentorship, and real exposure to financial markets, we\u2019re helping them gain the confidence \u2014 and the network \u2014 to succeed. Turning Belief into Action \u2014 and Potential into Opportunity<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In mid-November, fifteen university students traded lecture halls for the corridors of power. Over three days in Brussels, they joined the Bloomberg Finance Pathways Study Trip \u2014 a journey into the heart of European finance.<\/p>\n

Their itinerary read like a masterclass in how ideas shape economies. At the European Commission, they sat across from Maria Lu\u00eds Albuquerque, who leads the EU\u2019s work on financial services, and Paulina Dejmek Hack, Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Jessica Roswall \u2014 two of Europe\u2019s most influential women driving the continent\u2019s financial future.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

It was the Commissioner\u2019s \u00a0first engagement with the program, and she didn\u2019t hold back. In a candid Q&A, students asked about everything from financial literacy to navigating setbacks. The exchange was honest, lively, and deeply human \u2014 a reminder that finance is as much about resilience and perspective as it is about policy.<\/p>\n

In the Heart of the EU Bubble<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Beyond the Commission, the students saw how the EU\u2019s ecosystem of institutions connects ideas to action. They watched a plenary vote in the European Parliament, explored the National Bank of Belgium\u2019s Museum, and visited Bloomberg\u2019s Brussels newsroom, where colleagues from across teams \u2014 News, Sales, Government Relations, and HR \u2014 showed how our data, insights, and journalism help make sense of complex markets.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWatching the voting process in Parliament was incredible,\u201d said another participant. \u201cIt made the European Union feel tangible \u2014 not distant.\u201d<\/p>\n

These moments turned abstract systems into something real. The students didn\u2019t just learn how finance functions \u2014 they saw how people and policy come together to shape it.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

Confidence in Action<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Between policy briefings and newsroom tours, students dug into the practical side of career-building. Bloomberg\u2019s HR team led a CV workshop \u2014 dubbed \u201cthe best ever\u201d<\/em> by educational non-profit partners \u2014 followed by Bloomberg News journalist Saim Saeed, who shared tips for writing authentic motivation letters and owning the interview process.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

Evenings brought connection: a mentoring dinner with EU leaders and a speed-networking session hosted by long-time client Degroof Petercam, where students swapped stories and advice with professionals who\u2019d once been in their shoes. Strong partnerships like this one enable us to build environments where learning, leadership, and opportunity come together. They also highlight how Finance Pathways serves as a touchpoint for deepening Bloomberg\u2019s engagement with influential clients, policymakers, and market participants \u2014 reinforcing our role as a convener across the financial and governance ecosystems.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was inspiring to speak with so many ambitious young students,\u201d<\/em> said Raffaela Tschernitz, Parliamentary Assistant to MEP Evelyn Regner. \u201cThe atmosphere and the discussions were wonderful.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n

Leaving Brussels with Momentum<\/strong><\/p>\n

By the end of the week, energy filled the room. Students left describing themselves as \u201cmotivated,\u201d \u201cdriven,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cempowered.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe environment made me feel as though anything is possible,\u201d one participant wrote afterward. \u201cIt felt like the world was waiting for me when I left on Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n
