To be seen, respected, and treated equally, the LGBT+ community has had to push for recognition of their interests and rights.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to celebrate and honor the bold history, key accomplishments, and future of LGBT+ people worldwide, while also building strategies to overcome the social and political challenges that remain. So, what are the next fronts in the fight for equality?<\/p>\n

On a global scale, equal access to healthcare, the threat of violence, and demands for equal rights are pressing concerns for members of the LGBT+ community.<\/p>\n

Whether discrimination is public, covert, or institutionalized, it can lead to unequal treatment at schools, hospitals, and places of worship, as well as in the government and the workplace, leaving social and economic damage in its wake.<\/p>\n

Solving these problems often requires major policy changes from the government. It also needs support and vigilance from allies outside the LGBT+ community who can leverage certain societal privileges to help protect and empower LGBT+ people of all backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Whether an ally confronts their own prejudices, lets people in their life know that anti-LGBT+ jokes are not appropriate, or stands up for an LGBT+ person at work or in public, each of these small daily actions<\/a> can help remove the burden of LGBT+ people constantly defending themselves and begin the process of reducing discrimination in society.<\/p>\n

Every movement has a path \u2013 whether it is a push forwards or a pull backwards \u2013 and it is up to LGBT+ people and their allies to keep the momentum going in the right direction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
