PKO TFI Selects Bloomberg as ESG Data Provider
December 05, 2023
Adoption of Bloomberg’s comprehensive ESG data to support compliance with SFDR and the EU Taxonomy for PKO TFI’s green fund business
Bloomberg announced today that PKO Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych (PKO TFI), the largest mutual fund business in Poland, has selected Bloomberg’s ESG data solution for enterprise-wide use via Data License. This announcement marks the latest in Bloomberg’s continued collaboration with PKO TFI building on their use of Bloomberg Terminals and Bloomberg’s real-time market data feed, B-PIPE.
PKO TFI manages funds for nearly 2 million customers and offers more than 60 different types of funds and investment programs. Part of this program includes green funds which meet the conditions of Article 8 under the SFDR by investing primarily in pro-ecological and socially responsible enterprises. To support their green funds business, PKO TFI sought an ESG data provider that could deliver high quality comprehensive coverage, inclusive of Polish markets.
“We offer different green fund options for clients who want to build portfolios with sustainable development goals in mind,” said Konrad Komorowski, Senior Risk and Valuation Model Specialist at PKO TFI. “To facilitate our SFDR product level reporting, pre- and post-trade research workflows and provide our investors with sophisticated portfolios that meet sustainable criteria, we selected Bloomberg for its expertise with ESG regulations, coverage, and responsive customer service.”
PKO TFI will use Bloomberg’s SFDR data solution, which generates PAI indicators in a manner that is compliant with SFDR requirements covering over 15,500 companies globally. PKO TFI will also make use of Bloomberg’s carbon emissions dataset, which takes company-reported data and estimates Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for over 130,000 companies. To support compliance with the EU Taxonomy, PKO TFI will use Bloomberg’s comprehensive EU Taxonomy data solution covering over 50,000 companies.
“We understand how integral ESG data is to the value financial firms deliver to meet both client and regulatory demands. At the same time, ESG is getting more complex, especially with the introduction of new global frameworks and the evolution of existing regulations, such as the EU Taxonomy, which requires dynamic high-quality data to keep pace,” said Leila Sadiq, Global Head of Enterprise Data Content at Bloomberg. “We are pleased to work with PKO TFI to support their green funds business and we will continue to focus on our data quality, interoperability, and alignment with regulations to provide the most actionable ESG data for investment decisions.”
Bloomberg’s ESG data, research, and analytics span regulatory compliance, carbon emissions, sustainable debt, scores, indices, climate risk, and more. Clients can readily access this data on the Bloomberg Terminal via {ESGD <GO>} or across their enterprise via Data License at data.bloomberg.com for use in proprietary or third-party applications.
