Jamieson Coote Bonds Adopts Bloomberg Buy-side Solutions

October 21, 2018

Specialist Australian bond house uses Bloomberg AIM and PORT to support rapid investment growth

Melbourne, October 22, 2018 — Bloomberg announced today that Jamieson Coote Bonds (’JCB’), a leading specialist active bond fund manager headquartered in Australia, has adopted Bloomberg’s Asset and Investment Manager (AIM) and Portfolio & Risk Analytics (PORT), to enhance its operational environment and simplify its technology infrastructure as the company grows its investments.

With more than $1.1 billion (AUD) in assets under management, JCB is an actively managed Australian government bond fund specializing in duration management and security selection, with a strict focus on capital preservation. The two founders and current executive directors, Charles Jamieson and Angus Coote, invest in Australian government bonds as they remain attractive to large institutional investors, including Australia’s superannuation funds.

“Bloomberg’s technology is essential to how we attract large mandates and they have been strategic partners in helping us determine our Target Operating Model,” said Charles Jamieson, Executive Director of Jamieson Coote Bonds. “Their end-to-end buy-side solutions are the most cost-effective for what it offers, allowing us to demonstrate our high-quality operating environment to some of Australia’s largest institutional investors.”

JCB uses Bloomberg AIM to achieve an optimized front to back office workflow that covers portfolio modeling, trading, reporting, compliance and investment operations. Bloomberg PORT is used for portfolio reconciliation, cash management, and portfolio valuation across multiple large portfolios, all of which is seamlessly integrated with real-time data and news underpinned by a centralized data source.

Charles Jamieson added, “JCB is being supported by continually evolving technology that automates many of our processes, and that moves in line with the latest technical innovations and market regulations. We feel like this is a platform that can support the future of our business.”

“We are pleased that JCB has chosen us to help them establish an institutional-grade operating environment,” said Philippa Thompson, Head of Buyside OMS APAC at Bloomberg. “As more buy-side firms across the world bring technology and data into the center of their Target Operating Model, it becomes clear that they are better positioned to scale more efficiently and remain competitive. We are here to partner with buy-side firms on their technology journey when they are investing in Australia and beyond.”

For buy-side firms, Bloomberg AIM delivers global, multi-asset solutions for portfolio management, trading, compliance and operations. AIM is used by nearly 14,000 professionals in over 90 countries at over 900 client firms, including some of the largest asset managers, hedge funds, insurance companies, pension funds and government agencies.
