Bloomberg is thrilled to announce that Maureen Gallagher, Head of Bloomberg’s Enterprise Reference Data Business, has won “Reference Data Professional of the Year,” and Ania Musial, Technical Product Manager, Data Science Platform & AI Data Services, in Bloomberg’s CTO Office, has been named “Engineer/Programmer of the Year” in WatersTechnology’s Women in Technology and Data Awards presented in London on Friday, March 4, 2022. Bloomberg is proud that their dedication, leadership, and innovative approach to their work has been recognized among the outstanding women in the data and technology industry.
Maureen began her career in the Data department at Bloomberg more than a decade ago and has held multiple leadership positions across the firm. She joined Bloomberg’s Enterprise Data business in 2018 and was appointed Head of Enterprise Reference Data in early 2021. Over the course of her tenure, she has been instrumental in helping to evolve the business to meet clients’ reference data content, access, and usability needs.
One example of Maureen’s work to continuously enhance Bloomberg’s Reference Data offering is her leadership of the multi-year investment in the business’s corporate actions product, which today delivers unmatched depth and breadth of global coverage. The project’s success was due to Maureen’s forward-looking strategy, collaboration across teams, and unwavering outcome-oriented problem-solving approach to deliver clients accurate, timely, and complete data.
An innovator, collaborator, and community leader in the Machine Learning (ML) technology and financial data space, Ania has worked at Bloomberg for over a decade. She is a member of the ML Product and Research team in the Office of the CTO at Bloomberg, where she is focused on defining and building components necessary for a robust machine learning model development lifecycle (MDLC) used across the data-driven organization. Before moving to the CTO Office in 2021, she was a Senior Software Engineer in the company’s AI Engineering Group’s ML Platform team. Ania also co-chaired the company’s Machine Learning Guild for three years, a role in which she was responsible for creating a unified community and promoting discussions of machine learning problems, techniques, and best practices across Bloomberg, as well as engagement with the external machine learning community.
One critical project Ania oversaw was the development of the company’s Data Science Platform (DSP). This internal platform, which is built on top of cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, Apache Spark, and KServe, enables the company’s 200+ AI engineers to train, deploy, and actively update their machine learning models in production. These models are used to power the many different AI-enabled products Bloomberg makes available to its clients.
Chosen from a group of accomplished women in the data management industry, both Maureen’s and Ania’s achievements are something that Bloomberg is proud to support.
Congratulations to Maureen and Ania on these well-deserved awards!
