September 5, 2025
Tokyo – September 5, 2025 – Bloomberg is proud to announce it has won seven awards at the inaugural 2025 ETF Express Japan Awards, recognizing excellence across a broad range of categories:
- Best Index Overall Provider
- Best Index Provider – Equity ETFs
- Best Index Provider – Fixed Income ETFs
- Best Index Provider – Commodity ETFs
- Best ETF Research Provider
- Best OTC/Dark Pool ETF Execution Venue
- Best ETF Portfolio Management System
“We are honored to be recognized across so many categories by voters in Japan as we continue to expand our index offerings and for the dynamic ETF markets here in Japan and globally,” said Ji Zhuang, APAC Head of Indices at Bloomberg. “Fiduciary responsibility, sustainability, cost efficiency, and accountability are playing an increasingly important role in how indices are selected and utilized in Japan. We see that Japan is increasingly in the spotlight as a global investment destination, and these awards underscore our commitment to delivering robust, transparent multi-asset benchmarks that meet those ever evolving and complex needs of market participants.”
Bloomberg Indices collaborates with leading asset managers and ETF providers to expand its global presence and address evolving industry needs through innovative index solutions. Recent collaborations with Global X Japan and Daiwa Asset Management led to the creation of customized indices used in index-based products, including the Global X Japan Pricing Power Leaders ETF, which targets Japanese companies with strong pricing power to help navigate inflationary economic cycle and the iFreeETF Bloomberg Japan High Dividend 50 Index ETF, designed to support strong investor demand for income generating solutions through differentiated high-dividend strategies. Responding to elevated global interest rates and investor demand, Bloomberg worked with Nomura Asset Management to launch a partially hedged version of the Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Index. This index serves as the benchmark for the NEXT FUNDS Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Bond (7-10 Year) Index (75% Yen-Hedged) ETF, offering exposure to U.S. Treasuries while helping to mitigate long-term hedging costs.
“These awards reaffirm our leadership in enterprise business and our ability to deliver leading front-to-back solutions by harnessing the power of value-added data and innovative technology,” said Norman Tweeboom, Japan Regional Head at Bloomberg. “Despite the challenges of a declining population, Japan is driving revitalization by embracing technology, automation and digitalization – and we are proud to play a role in enabling that transformation.”
Bloomberg’s leading ETF trading solution, RFQe*, was recognized for “Best OTC/Dark Pool ETF Execution Venue.” The win highlights the capabilities of Bloomberg’s ETF trading offering, which is designed to meet investors’ evolving needs, while providing them with access to more than 200 liquidity providers. Clients also benefit from a robust suite of news, data, pre- and post-trade analytics, and communication tools, supporting a wide range of asset classes while offering seamless workflows.
Bloomberg was also named “Best ETF Portfolio Management System” for its PORT offering, a leading portfolio & risk analytics solution. With 47,000 active users across 15,000 firms globally, PORT empowers clients to gain deeper portfolio insights through streamlined workflows that include intraday performance monitoring, historical performance attribution, risk forecasting and optimization. The global ETF Express Awards programs aim to acknowledge outstanding performance of ETF issuers and service providers in Japan in various categories such as equity, fixed income, commodity, smart beta, thematic, active, and ESG. Nominees are selected through a comprehensive survey of over 100 issuers and other key industry participants, and the voting for all of the winners is conducted via an online poll by ETF Express readership.
