Bloomberg View Announces Jeffrey Goldberg as Full-Time Writer
April 10, 2013
NEW YORK — Bloomberg View today announced that columnist
Jeffrey Goldberg is joining Bloomberg View full-time. While he
will continue his column, he will expand his writing to a range
of faster-paced forms suited to the digital age.
“Jeff is an extraordinary journalist,” said David Shipley,
executive editor of Bloomberg View. “He has a special ability to
write incisive opinion based on hard reporting. He will be
pivotal in helping us reinvent the role of the columnist in a
digital world.”
Goldberg, who has written for The Atlantic for the past several
years, was previously the Washington correspondent for The New
Yorker. Prior to that, he was a writer for The New York Times
Magazine, covering the Middle East and Africa. He has also
covered the mafia for New York magazine, served as the New York
bureau chief of the Forward and been a columnist for the
Jerusalem Post. He began his career as a police reporter for the
Washington Post. Goldberg will continue to contribute longer
essays and reported pieces to The Atlantic.
Goldberg’s “Prisoners” (2006) was widely-hailed as one of the
year’s best books. He is the recipient of numerous awards,
including the 2003 National Magazine Award for Reporting for his
coverage of Islamic terrorism, the International Consortium of
Investigative Journalists prize for best international
investigative journalist, and the Overseas Press Club award for
best human rights reporting. He is also the recipient of 2005’s
Anti-Defamation League Daniel Pearl Prize.
In 2001, Goldberg was appointed the Syrkin Fellow in Letters of
the Jerusalem Foundation and was appointed in 2002 to be a
public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center
for Scholars in Washington, D.C.
