Bloomberg is pleased to announce it has secured first place in the BuySideRisk50, which explores portfolio and risk management technologies, and has placed in the top three for a second time in the QuantTech50 ranking, which focuses on pricing and market risk, credit risk, and banking book analytics. These rankings are part of Chartis Research’s 2024 STORM series that reviews analytics and statistical techniques within risk technology to support modern finance and insurance.
In addition to the overall ranking placements, Bloomberg won the following category wins:

Josef Kirkland, Head of Portfolio & Risk Analytics at Bloomberg said, “Bloomberg’s overall buy-side risk win and the accompanying category awards recognize our continued resolve to deliver an integrated suite of buy-side solutions that provides a holistic view of client portfolios and their risk exposures, facilitating better informed investment strategies.”
This marks Bloomberg’s third STORM series category win for Fixed-Income Performance Attribution. Bloomberg’s Multi-Asset Class Hybrid Performance Attribution (MAC HPA) model offers unmatched explanatory power in the decomposition of portfolio outperformance enabling clients to achieve precision in return attribution through curated model settings aligned to their investment strategy. The MAC HPA model is integral to Bloomberg’s Portfolio & Risk Analytics solution (PORT), which is recognized in the category for its portfolio optimizer tool providing clients access to a full set of portfolio construction and rebalance capabilities integrated with Bloomberg’s extensive data coverage and risk models.
Bloomberg has won the Evaluated Pricing and Data (Fixed-Income) category for five consecutive years across Chartis ranking reports. This year’s win recognizes the continued leadership of BVAL, Bloomberg’s evaluated pricing service, as well as the impressive launch of Intraday BVAL (IBVAL) Front Office. IBVAL is Bloomberg’s new innovative pricing solution, which uses AI to produce frequent pricing for approximately 45,000 USD, GBP, and EUR credit securities.
Eric Isenberg, Global Head of Enterprise Data Pricing at Bloomberg said, “Due to Bloomberg’s innovative technology, comprehensive data, and market expertise, BVAL and IBVAL help clients cut through the complexity of today’s markets with defensible pricing insights. The introduction of IBVAL provides a new powerful price discovery channel for the world’s largest credit markets helping traders operate faster in increasingly automated fixed income markets.”
It is also the third win for Fixed-Income (municipal bonds) Solution and second for Fixed Income (corporate bonds) Asset Class Analytics, achieved through MARS Market Risk which is part of Bloomberg’s Multi-Asset Risk System (MARS) risk solution suite. MARS provides multi-asset fixed income bond coverage alongside a broad spectrum of financial instruments including exchange-traded, over-the-counter derivatives and structured products across different asset classes (equities, interest rates, inflation, FX, commodities and credit).
Jose Ribas, Global Head of Enterprise Products Platform and Risk Services at Bloomberg said, “Our wins in the QuantTech50 speak to the wide-reaching capabilities, and the underlying quant models, across our offerings that remain at the cutting-edge of the financial services industry. We are honored to accept these awards that further acknowledge our efforts in supporting our clients across various functions and workflows.”
Bloomberg’s overall win builds on a two year streak as overall winner of the Chartis RiskTech Buyside50 report. Placement in Chartis ranking reports is determined based on the detailed research submissions of participating companies demonstrating innovative quantitative techniques, model applications and computational infrastructures.
