Bloomberg Releases Gen AI-Enhanced Solution on Mobile Apps

July 29, 2024

Maximizes Productivity with Consistent Workflow on Desktop, Mobile, and Large-Screen Devices

Bloomberg today announced the availability of AI-Powered Earnings Call Summaries and the popular Document Search function {DS<GO>} on its mobile apps, including the Bloomberg Professional® apps on iOS and Android and Bloomberg Pro for Vision which was built for the era of spatial computing. The availability of this generative AI-enhanced solution on Bloomberg’s mobile apps harnesses emerging technologies to help financial analysts improve their research workflow productivity and uncover deeper insights both on the desktop and on the go.

Users of the Bloomberg Professional and Bloomberg Pro for Vision app will benefit from these new enhancements, which enable financial analysts to visualize and explore both structured data and unstructured content from company and industry documents for a more complete research workflow. In addition, the Bloomberg Pro for Vision app enables Bloomberg Terminal® users to bridge the gap between the multiple monitors of their traditional desktops and the infinite canvas enabled by Apple Vision Pro.

Len Welter, Head of Mobile Infrastructure & Technology in Bloomberg’s Office of the CTO, said: “With market events and company announcements taking place around the clock and across the globe, financial services firms are thinking about how to equip their enterprise workforce for the future with bigger screens for better productivity. Bloomberg’s continued development of workflow solutions for specific roles and asset classes using various desktop and mobile devices concretely shows our commitment to supporting our clients on this journey.”

AI-Powered Earnings Call Summaries uses the pragmatic application of generative AI to help analysts save time during their research process. The solution enables users to decipher complex financial information and quickly extract key insights on topics addressed by corporate management teams. The tool complements Document Search {DS<GO>}, the Bloomberg Terminal function which applies natural language processing to help users search across hundreds of millions of trusted company and industry documents with speed and precision. Together, the solutions reduce the burden of discovering the most salient points in earnings call transcripts – a crucial source for decision-making information – and are built into Bloomberg’s suite of Research Management Solutions.

Andrew Skala, Global Head of Companies and Research Product at Bloomberg, said: “Financial services firms are looking for ways to transform their business with leading-edge technology solutions that help their research teams save time and uncover new investment ideas. Now that AI-Powered Earnings Call Summaries and Document Search are available on both desktop and mobile devices, we are able to provide a more continuous research workflow solution with access to structured data and unstructured content so financial analysts can get context whenever and wherever they need it.”

Bloomberg’s Mobile Innovation
Bloomberg has long been an innovator in optimizing mobile technology for productivity. The company’s Bloomberg Professional app has provided market news and global financial data to financial professionals on the go since 2005, when Bloomberg published one of the first mobile apps available for download on BlackBerry™. The company subsequently offered one of the first apps in the iPhone App Store in 2008, delivered an iPad app at launch in 2011, and released an updated tablet app for the iPad Pro’s launch in 2015. The opportunity to deliver an innovative new app for a new form of computing was a logical next step for the company’s Mobile team.

The Bloomberg Professional and Bloomberg Pro for Vision apps are only accessible by Bloomberg Terminal customers with a Bloomberg Anywhere subscription. The Bloomberg B-Unit App is required for login.
