February 20, 2023

This is the second time in three years that Bloomberg has been awarded the highest recognition by the ministry for providing best-in-class, comprehensive and transparent data and solutions

Tokyo – Bloomberg announced today that it has, once again, received the Gold Award in the financial services category of the fourth annual ESG Finance Awards Japan, established by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. Bloomberg previously received the Gold Award in 2021 as well. These awards recognize investors and financial institutions that have made significant contributions toward solving environmental issues by helping Japanese businesses create corporate value through business strategies that incorporate environmental considerations.

The Gold Award was given to Bloomberg Japan this year in recognition of its significant contribution to the capital market in the following areas:

1. Our efforts to improve transparency and eliminate information asymmetry by providing unique ESG data and analysis tools that support disclosure in line with major regulations such as SFDR.

2. Our focus on building and nurturing ESG community through seminars and events in collaboration with financial institutions and other organizations.

Norman Tweeboom, Japan Regional Head of Bloomberg said, “We are extremely delighted to receive the Gold Award for the second time from the Japanese Ministry of Environment. With Japanese firms known to be among the most sophisticated ESG investors in the world, it means a lot to us.” He added, “Bloomberg doesn’t only provide market-leading ESG data. We offer investors the tools to analyze and act on this data, seamlessly incorporating ESG metrics from multiple sources into investors’ workflows. And we do not stop there. Bloomberg actively provides opportunities for the Japanese investors and decision makers to convene, and for them to share the challenges and opportunities in the hopes of nurturing the ESG community and assisting the adoption of world-class best practices across the industry.”
