Bloomberg India 20: The Next Chapter
March 28, 2016
Bloomberg turns 20 this year in the world’s fastest growing economy, India. To mark this important milestone, we hosted an event to remember this evening for the who’s who of business, finance and government in New Delhi.
We were particularly honored that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi agreed to headline the celebrations, delivering an inspirational keynote on his vision for India. Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait shared the India story and moderated a panel on whether technology can help one of the world’s youngest population meet its aspirations.
Michael Bloomberg expressed his optimism about India’s future and its extraordinary transformation in a special video message.
Over the last 20 years, we have witnessed first-hand India’s transformation from an emerging market to the fastest growing economy in the world.
When Bloomberg opened its first office in India in 1996, we had just a few employees. 20 years on, we have a strong pan-national presence spanning Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore, delivering financial news, data and analysis to local and foreign customers across the India sub-continent. As India’s financial community expanded, we connected them through our network to the global investment world. Today, Bloomberg’s clients in India include leading corporations, banks, financial institutions, government agencies and more than 30 business schools.
As India moves forward in its next chapter of growth, Bloomberg will continue to deliver innovative market technologies and deep financial insights. We are proud to have a growing presence in one of the most dynamic economies in the world – and increasingly one of the most important financial centers. The next 20 years promise to be even more vibrant than the last.
