We want you and your dependents to have peace of mind with comprehensive medical and dental coverage, financial and retirement resources and additional support for your family and life. For employees based in the United Kingdom who elect to participate in the Health Care Plan, you will receive medical, dental and travel insurance from your first day of work.


Health and well-being

Medical plan

Bloomberg offers employees access to a private medical insurance scheme, which can complement the treatment you receive via the NHS. It provides you with choice about how, when and where you receive medical care. As part of your coverage, employees can access a well-being program that encourages you to live a healthier lifestyle and rewards you with awards points and access to discounts at various reward partners.

Dental care

Under the Bloomberg plan, the dental coverage provides employees reimbursements for routine checkups and dental treatments at any dentist of your choice within the UK.

Travel insurance

The travel insurance ensures your health and safety while you and/or your dependents travel for business and leisure.

Telemedicine

Bloomberg employees can access telemedicine services that offer you and your dependents access to clinical health care. Using video, phone and emails through your mobile app, Babylon doctors can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication for common and mental health ailments.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Through the EAP employees can receive confidential, short-term (up to nine sessions) counseling and referral services to assist you and your family through problems, helping you to learn about available options and find reasonable solutions. Areas covered include marital difficulties, financial concerns, stress, anxiety and more.

On-site health services

Experienced health care providers (i.e., physician, nurse practitioner and physician assistant) are available on-site five days per week in our London office to provide medical treatment to employees for episodic and urgent illnesses, and more.

Ergonomics

Bloomberg’s ergonomics program provides employees with the knowledge, resources and tools needed for a safe and comfortable work environment. You have access to an online risk assessment as well as virtual or on-site desk assessments by a certified ergonomist.

Vision care

Eye care vouchers are available to employees, entitling you to one eye test voucher per year. Employees are also eligible for a £55 spectacle voucher if box C or D is checked on the Visual Display Unit (VDU) certificate of recommendation (provided by your optician).

Bloomberg employees are eligible for basic life insurance at five times your base salary, up to a maximum benefit, paid 100% by Bloomberg.

Disability insurance

Bloomberg is committed to your financial well-being, so we offer short-term disability wage replacement when you are unable to perform your job duties due to illness, injury or an accident. Long-term disability is designed to offer a wage replacement for when you become disabled for an extended period.

Financial education

Bloomberg offers a free and independent resource for employees to improve your financial education in the workplace, delivering an individual experience through targeted content, based on your preferences and information.

Employees have access to discount programs to help save money on thousands of items such as travel, clothing, electronics, shows, gym memberships and many more.

Cycle to work scheme

The cycle to work scheme allows you to make a salary sacrifice in return for a tax-free benefit for a bicycle and safety equipment. The Inland Revenue requires that the bike be used mainly for commuting or part of your journey to work. Bloomberg will purchase the bike and equipment and lease them over a 12-month period. You may have the option to purchase the bicycle at the end of this period.

Annual season ticket

The Season Ticket Loan Scheme can save you money. Employees are able to buy an annual ticket that costs less than 12 separate monthly tickets. Under this scheme, Bloomberg purchases an annual transportation pass (train, tube, DLR and bus) on your behalf, after which employees pay back the discounted cost in 12 monthly installments.

Family and life

Emergency backup child & elderly care

During emergencies, when your regular care arrangements are temporarily unavailable, Bloomberg offers employees free emergency backup child and elderly care up to 10 days a year. Backup child care coverage can be used for children ages 0-16. Options available include nursery, childminders or nannies.

As a result of Bloomberg’s support, employees and in some cases, their families receive special opportunities such as free admission and discounts.

Leave

Bloomberg offers employees 25 paid vacation days, eight paid bank holidays and paid sick days. We also provide leaves of absence to address a variety of personal situations, including family and medical emergencies, jury duty and more.

Parental leave

Bloomberg offers up to 26 weeks of 100% paid parental leave for the primary caregiver to bond and care for their newborn, surrogate or adopted child. Secondary caregivers are eligible for 4 weeks of 100% paid leave.

Fertility discounts

Employees are eligible for a 10% discount at the Lister Fertility Clinic’s two locations, the Lister Hospital in Chelsea as well as a satellite clinic near the London office. The discount is applicable to most IVF expenses with the exception of prescription drugs.

Private hospital maternity discounts

Employees are eligible for discounts on maternity packages for both normal and C-section deliveries, including a 20% discount on maternity packages in London at the Portland Hospital and a 15% discount at the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital.
