Health and well-being
Comprehensive medical plan
Bloomberg provides medical support and shares the premium cost for your medical, dental, and vision coverage through the Foreign Transportation and Finance Health Association (FTFHIA). The plan also offers an injury and sickness allowance and funeral expense grants.
On-site health services
Our company doctors are available for on-site and virtual consultations for a range of physical and mental health support. We also have a female industry physician who specializes in gynecology available for anyone who wishes to have advice for women’s health/life stages.
Minor Expense Reimbursement plan
Bloomberg supplements employee support through the minor expense reimbursement plan, which allows employees and their dependents to claim reimbursement for dental and vision care expenses not covered under the FTFHIA plan, as well as for the cost of necessary immunizations for children under the age of 3.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Bloomberg employees and their dependents have access to confidential, short-term (up to nine visits) counseling; referral services are available to assist you and your family in working through problems, learning about available options, and finding solutions. Areas covered include marital difficulties, financial concerns, stress, anxiety, and other areas that may affect mental health.
Emergency medical & security evacuation
As a Bloomberg employee, if you experience a business or personal travel-related emergency outside of your country of domicile or while on a short-term overseas assignment, emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help.
Ergonomics
A program is available to provide you with the knowledge, resources and tools needed for a safe and comfortable work environment. You have access to an online risk assessment as well as virtual or on-site desk assessments by a certified ergonomist. Support for special equipment can be provided based on individual ergonomic needs.

Finance
Retirement
Bloomberg’s Retirement and Saving Plan (Defined Benefit Plan) provides you with financial security in your retirement years. Bloomberg will allocate a generous pay credit to your regular account without the need for any employee contributions.
Life insurance
Bloomberg provides basic life insurance coverage for all employees at 3x annual base salary (at a capped level). Life insurance covers you against death and total permanent disability due to any cause.
Supplemental life insurance
We also offer the option for employees to purchase Supplemental Group Life insurance. You also have the option to expand this coverage for your spouse or dependent children at group rates.
Long-term disability insurance (LTD)
Our long-term disability insurance is designed to protect you if you become disabled for an extended period because of sickness or injury, at no cost to you. Coverage is 60% of basic monthly salary while you qualify under the policy provisions.
Well-being rewards
Bloomberg provides reimbursement for eligible well-being related expenses. Qualified expenses include gym fees, personal trainer sessions and group activity classes. Membership discounts are available at our contracted sports club near to our office.
Commuting allowance
Bloomberg pays a commuting allowance to all full-time employees in Japan, and we reimburse the return cost of your daily travel from your home to the office, up to certain limits.
Tuition Reimbursements
In addition to providing on-the-job training, courses and programs, Bloomberg provides a tuition reimbursement program of up to $12,000 per calendar year for all job and business-related courses, including certifications.
Family and life
Time off
Bloomberg offers 20 paid time off days each year. We also provide leaves of absence to address a variety of personal situations, including family and medical emergencies, jury duty and more.
Fertility support
Our medical insurance plan provides support for fertility treatments approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Childcare Services
We understand the challenges that caregivers can face in balancing their personal and professional lives. To support this, Bloomberg has a comprehensive Childcare Benefit/Support Program, which includes a Nursery Search Support Program, back up Childcare/Babysitter Services, Childcare Concierge, and discounted babysitting services
Adoption and surrogacy assistance
Bloomberg provides reimbursement for eligible adoption-related costs.
Parental Leave
Bloomberg offers up to 26 weeks of 100% paid, gender-neutral, parental leave for the primary caregiver to bond and care for your newborn, surrogate or adopted child from day one. Employees are also eligible to apply for unpaid parental leave, in line with Government guidelines.
Non-primary caregivers are eligible for 4 weeks of 100% paid leave.
Maternity support program
Our medical plan coverage includes an allowance of up to JPY 675,000 at the time of birth. Should parents choose to take Unpaid Child Care Leave, Bloomberg assists employees to receive childcare leave benefits
Parental Support Program
Our program provides support for parents and those with care-giving responsibilities with dedicated individual sessions to help transition to parenthood or navigating other challenges. We also offer a robust transition plan for parents returning to the workplace and an internal buddy program with existing Bloomberg employees and parents.

Visitors to any of our Bloomberg offices around the globe are welcomed by our famous pantries. Employees have access to a full-service pantry offering meals, snacks, fresh fruit, and beverages. Sports teams and leagues
Keep in shape while meeting other team members. Bloomberg offers financial assistance for sports or recreational teams who participate in corporate leagues.
