Engineering
Our systems make an immediate impact on global markets. Our 7,000+ engineers are dedicated to building and advancing them.
Who we are
We are all software engineers. Some of us are also economists, some physicists and others mathematicians. The one thing we all have in common is that we are passionate about technology and our work always makes an impact. We are active members of the open-source community and, like our customers, we understand and appreciate the importance of speed.
What you will build
You’ll build software that fuels new solutions for the Bloomberg Terminal and our wider suite of products. You’ll design high-impact solutions to help our customers optimize complex workflows, efficiently manipulate large datasets and make quick, intuitive decisions. Our products range from desktop to web to mobile applications. We’re platform — and technology — agnostic. Our priority is delivering an excellent experience to our customers.
Who we hire
We want talented engineers who are intellectually curious, excellent problem solvers and strong communicators. We’re big believers in using the right tools for the job. The majority of our software is built in C++, JavaScript and Python.
Our interview process
No two jobs are the same, but our overall interview process is pretty consistent. It generally starts with a phone interview and, if your skills and interests align with ours, we will invite you for a few rounds of in person technical and HR interviews, either in our office or on campus.
Students and recent graduates
When you apply for an entry level software engineering or intern role at Bloomberg, you may notice that the position is not specific to a team or department. This may sound open-ended, but that’s what we’re going for. We want to learn about your skill set and interests through our interview process and help you find the team where you would be most impactful. And even if you’re not from a computer science background, we still want to hear from you.
Experienced hires
Our interview process for experienced candidates is customized to the role you are interviewing for. Typically we start with one or two phone interviews, followed by in-house interviews.
