Your Workflow Just Got a NOTE-able Upgrade

February 13, 2017

In the dynamic capital markets, communication and collaboration are more important than ever. The exchange of information and market data that prompts trade ideas should be instant, secure and iterative, to match the speed of trading. That’s why we’ve introduced the new {NOTE<GO>}, a rich-text workspace, where Bloomberg subscribers can capture and share ideas, observations and charts for themselves or with a defined and permissioned group.

NOTE<GO> is flexible, enabling users to capture and share ideas from their desktop or on-the-go via a mobile device. NOTE<GO> allows users to enrich their observations about the market, a stock, or an investor with financial context — market data, charts, research — so insights are current and actionable. Users can add smart tags to their ideas, such as a company ticker, sector, or custom themes so note content is searchable and easy to re-surface at any future date — for instant recall. And since notes are part of the Bloomberg Professional service, they are created, shared and stored in WORM storage with compliance controls that protect your ideas, your IP and your firm.

As a team collaboration tool, NOTE<GO> is fully integrated with Instant Bloomberg (IB) and Bloomberg Message (MSG) for quick archiving and sharing of important interactions among defined groups of colleagues. Attachments and embedded images are easily incorporated and alerts can be set for updates as teams add content and comments to a note. Notes are also fully integrated with the rest of the Bloomberg Professional service, enabling efficient workflows to compare market movements to a desk’s recent ideas.

NOTE-Worthy Use Cases for NOTE<GO>

  • Analysts can take notes on-the-go at investor conferences and easily share commentary with portfolio management and trading teams in real-time so they can make smarter, more informed decisions. Notes uses rich-text editing so analysts can insert images, tables, charts, hyperlinks and add attachments.
  • A banker on a capital markets or syndicate desk can capture her reaction to a market event or research report that could affect an issuer or a specific deal and share it with a defined group of colleagues who can add additional commentary. Notes use built-in compliance controls that protect and archive your ideas, even while working on a mobile device.
  • A portfolio manager can keep track of internal commentary, research, and key interactions by browsing his notes for securities, people, regions, sector or custom themes–improving organization and discovery and archiving content to meet regulatory mandates.

Since we rolled-out the new NOTE<GO>, users around the world have embraced it for numerous use cases like these and others. For more information about how to use NOTE<GO>, please check out our article in the December 2016/January 2017 issue of Bloomberg Markets.
