Bloomberg L.P. officially launches its real-time Turkish language news service on the Bloomberg Terminal today, with an event at Feriye Palace. Bloomberg’s new local language service will help investors in Turkey make quicker and more informed business decisions by delivering breaking local financial news in Turkish, including global perspectives on the market.
This year, Bloomberg has expanded its reporting staff in Turkey to provide headlines and stories in Turkish, including coverage of the central bank, the economy, corporate announcements and market-moving news. Its reporting team recently interviewed Prime Minister Binali Yildirim as well as the Finance, Economy and Customs and Trade ministers.
Chris Collins, Senior Executive Editor, Breaking News and Markets, Bloomberg says: “Bringing transparency to global markets is what we do every day at Bloomberg. Corporates and institutional investors alike will find our exclusive Turkish-language breaking news and commentary invaluable, whether they are making a quick investment decision or looking for more perspective on the Turkish marketplace.”
Bloomberg has a long history in Turkey, opening its first bureau in Istanbul in 1998 and expanding to include a new Ankara bureau in 2004. Bloomberg’s terminal business in Turkey has been one of the highest growing markets, expanding 52% since 2011. In 2009, Bloomberg partnered with Ciner Media to launch a 24-hour business TV network BloombergHT (Haberturk), and Bloomberg Businessweek magazine’s Turkish edition launched in 2011.
Turkey is one of several markets in which Bloomberg has dedicated teams of journalists breaking news and delivering original content in local languages, including Japan, China, Russia, Germany, South Korea and Latin America.
