Bloomberg Creates New Government Business Unit as Customer Demand Grows

Bloomberg Government to Join Bloomberg BNA to Provide More Powerful Government Affairs and Contracting Data, News and Analysis
Washington – Bloomberg L.P. today announced that Bloomberg Government (BGOV) will become part of Bloomberg BNA, combining two of Bloomberg’s strongest brands in Washington and enabling the integrated organization to deliver even more powerful solutions for government affairs and contracting professionals.
BGOV will become the flagship product of a new Government unit within Bloomberg BNA, creating a single business to serve this growing market. In addition to government-focused products, Bloomberg BNA offers critical information, practical guidance and workflow solutions to the legal, tax, and compliance markets, with innovative products such as Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg BNA Tax & Accounting.
The move comes as growth rates for Bloomberg’s Washington businesses have reached all-time highs as customer demand grows for insight and analysis about legislation, government contracts and regulation.
“Given the constant change in Washington and our growing presence in government research and analytics, we see an opportunity to invest further in the DC region and go to market with one strong voice,” said Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg L.P.
The new unit will launch on July 1 and combine the data, tools and analysis of BGOV with Congress Tracker, The Daily Report for Executives, Money & Politics Report, and The Federal Contracts Report into one unit. For the first time, all of Bloomberg’s product, content, data and sales resources focused on Congress, government contracting and government affairs markets will be in one business to more seamlessly serve its customers.
“We’re doubling down on our investment in Washington,” said Josh Eastright, head of Bloomberg Government. “By joining forces, we’ll be able to more intelligently deploy our resources to expand our scope of coverage across the government and drive more product innovation.”
“Both BGOV and Bloomberg BNA just completed their best first quarters ever, and aligning our government businesses in Washington will help us grow even faster by offering the best government-related information,” said Greg McCaffery, CEO and President of Bloomberg BNA.
“I’m delighted that Josh will run our Government business and that we’ll be adding resources to push even more product innovation,” McCaffery said.
Employees of the new unit will be based at Bloomberg Government headquarters on K Street in Washington to foster more collaboration and faster product development.
