February 27, 2013
Boston–Bloomberg Radio, the 24-hour station from the world’s
most trusted source of business news and financial information,
in conjunction with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment
Boston, today announced Bloomberg Radio will debut on Clear
Channel’s WXKS 1200AM/94.5FM-HD2 serving Boston, MA.
Beginning March 1, Bloomberg Radio WXKS 1200AM/94.5FM-HD2 will
be the only all business and financial news radio station
available throughout Boston, offering Bloomberg’s signature
programming and up-to-date market coverage, in addition to local
news, traffic, weather and sports. With its flagship station
WBBR 1130AM in New York, Bloomberg Radio now reaches two of the
leading financial services and wealth management markets in the
country.
“We’re excited about expanding Bloomberg Radio into Boston, an
important market for those who manage money, move the markets
and shape the innovations of tomorrow,” said Al Mayers, head of
Bloomberg Radio. “With Bloomberg 1200AM and a signal for those
with HD radio on 94.5FM-HD2, Bostonians can tap into the
insightful conversations with influential analysts, economists,
and business leaders that Bloomberg Radio is known for.”
“Boston is one of the top markets for financial services,
technology, healthcare and higher education,” said Mary Menna,
Market President for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment
Boston. “Our agreement with Bloomberg Radio to provide its
premiere business content to Boston listeners is a perfect fit
for this area.”
“Advertisers have long recognized Bloomberg Radio for the
quality of our audience, our strong relationships with listeners
and our ability to serve not only the financial community but
also business executives and opinion leaders across many
sectors,” said Trevor Fellows, head of global media sales,
Bloomberg Media Group. “With Bloomberg 1200 AM, now there’s an
additional way to reach the most influential people in Boston.”
As part of the launch, Bloomberg Radio has formed a strategic
partnership with Boston-area Bentley University, in which
Bentley will provide primary access to its leading faculty and
staff, adding insight and perspective to listeners. Bloomberg
Radio and Bentley will also co-produce content, drawing on
Bentley’s academic resources, and Bloomberg Radio will present
programming incorporating students, including the award-winning
Fed Challenge team and student-run Bentley Investment Group.
“We were excited about this collaboration from the start.
Bentley is a leading business university and Bloomberg as the
leader in business media is a great fit,” said Gloria Larson,
Bentley University President. “We look forward to working with
Bloomberg to provide an informed and innovative view of business
to the Boston market.”
Bloomberg Radio, which recently celebrated its twentieth
anniversary on the air, is part of Bloomberg Media Group
