Türkiye’s Public and Private Sectors Launch Bloomberg Finance Lab at Boğaziçi University to Support Future Financial Leaders

May 11, 2026

Istanbul – Boğaziçi University has unveiled a Bloomberg Finance Lab as part of its Istanbul campus. The Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Bloomberg, RePie Asset Management, The Türkiye Wealth Fund, Ziraatbank, and Takasbank, have taken a significant step in expanding access to advanced financial training tools and supporting the development of Türkiye’s next generation of financial professionals. This bold sector-spanning partnership shows a broad commitment by public and private entities to bring Türkiye into the new age of financial data and markets.

Equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals – and part of a global network of more than 1,200 academic institutions across 65 countries – Boğaziçi will integrate Bloomberg technology into their curriculum via the Bloomberg for Education platform. The Bloomberg Terminal provides real-time and historical data, analytics, news, and trading tools used by financial professionals worldwide and now some of Türkiye’s brightest students can leverage this in their studies.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the participant parties to recognise the adoption of this technology and symbolise the joint commitment to support students for years to come. The lab will train future financial market players to have the skills needed to analyse risks, assess market shifts and deploy capital into the domestic and global economy.

The launch comes as Türkiye continues to strengthen its position as a regional financial hub, with Istanbul playing a central role in connecting global markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. As the country advances this ambition, investment in skills and human capital remains critical to sustaining long-term growth.

Through the lab, students will gain hands-on experience using industry standard market data and analytics, alongside access to several training programmes. These are interactive, online and self-paced courses that provide hands-on experience. The curriculum covers key areas such as Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Equities, and Economic Statistics, helping prepare graduates for careers across financial services, data analysis, and the broader economy. At the end of the courses students receive a digital certificate of completion that can be shared on professional networking platforms including LinkedIn.

The lab will support undergraduate and postgraduate students across finance, economics, and related disciplines, as well as faculty and researchers conducting data-driven analysis on financial markets, public policy, and economic trends.

Bloomberg is focused on and committed to strengthening Türkiye’s financial ecosystem and supporting talent development. Expanding access to professional-grade tools and data is a key component of enabling young people to contribute to economic growth and enhancing the country’s attractiveness to international investment.

Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, said: “Cross-sector collaboration like this partnership equips the next generation with the skills and tools required to navigate global financial markets. This is essential to sustaining Türkiye’s economic momentum. Initiatives such as the Bloomberg Finance Lab play an important role in bridging the gap between education and industry, supporting our broader ambition to position Türkiye as a competitive and globally connected financial hub.”

Steven Yankelson, Head of Emerging Markets, EMEA, Bloomberg, said: “Türkiye is an increasingly important part of the global financial ecosystem, with Istanbul playing a key role as a regional centre. By working with Boğaziçi University to expand access to Bloomberg Terminal technology, we are helping equip students with the practical skills and market insights needed to succeed in a data-driven, globally interconnected financial system.”

The Bloomberg Finance Lab forms part of a broader effort to align academic training with industry needs, equipping students with practical capabilities in data analysis, risk management, and market decision-making.

The Rector of Boğaziçi University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Naci İnci, said: “The launch of the Bloomberg Finance Lab represents a significant step forward in strengthening financial education at Boğaziçi University. By providing students with direct access to industry-standard data and tools helping them combine academic theory and real-world market practice. It will equip our students with the analytical skills, technical capabilities, and global perspective required to succeed in increasingly complex and interconnected financial markets. More broadly, this initiative supports Türkiye’s ambition to deepen its talent pool and enhance the competitiveness of its financial sector.”

Sallianne Taylor, Head of Government Relations for Europe, Central Asia, & Türkiye Bloomberg, said: “Türkiye’s economy has demonstrated resilience in a complex global environment. Its financial sector continues to evolve, and developments in capital markets, including the growth and modernisation of Borsa Istanbul, point to a market that is becoming deeper, more dynamic, and more connected to international investors.” “These trends reinforce the importance of continued investment in financial infrastructure, skills, and transparency that help sustain long-term growth.”
