Bloomberg Journalism Programs Expands to Brazil, Its First in Latin America

Bloomberg today announced the launch of the Bloomberg Journalism Programs – Brazil, the first in Latin America. This expansion of Bloomberg’s global journalism education initiative was held August 1 to August 3 in São Paulo, and welcomed undergraduate journalism students from across Brazil.The program is being offered in partnership with the University of North Carolina’s (UNC) Hussman School of Journalism and Media and with the Department of Journalism at Faculdade Cásper Líbero in São Paulo.
In Brazil, 13 students were selected from more than 400 applications. They participants are currently enrolled at 11 different universities across Brazil including: Casper Líbero, Centro Universitário Celso Lisboa, ESPM Rio, FAM, Universidade Estadual do Piauí, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, and Universidade Federal de Roraima.
The Bloomberg Journalism Programs offer students hands-on experience in business journalism, equipping them with skills to effectively report on the economy, companies, financial and commodity markets, and other topics affecting the global economy. Through direct engagement with Bloomberg News professionals and influential industry leaders, participants gain practical insights, learn to navigate The Bloomberg Terminal. They also receive training based on The Bloomberg Way—Bloomberg News’ guide to reporting, editing, and applied business and economic knowledge. The Brazil program marks another milestone in Bloomberg’s mission to enhance business journalism education and career opportunities worldwide.

Bloomberg Journalism Programs, established in collaboration with the Hussman School since 2017, have expanded from UNC-Chapel Hill and UC Berkeley to City, University of London.There are more than 260 graduates of the program who have pursued careers at various organizations, including Bloomberg News.
