Our organizational structure features fewer job titles to indicate the level of management than more hierarchical firms.  Generally, our structure is based on two types of roles:  Individual Contributors and People Managers.  People management roles include titles such as “Team Leader” or “Head of [Department or Business Area].” A Team Leader will manage Individual Contributors within a specific job function and scope, and a “Head of” is responsible for multiple teams within a department or business area.

A recruiter carefully reviews each application and will contact you to schedule an interview if your qualifications, skills and experience match our requirements.

While there is no limit on the number of roles you can apply for, you cannot interview for more than two roles simultaneously. Our Talent Acquisition team will work with you to understand which role is the best fit.

Interview

During an interview, we’re not just looking to learn about your background and experience – we also want to know what draws you to Bloomberg. Consider your motivation and the reasons you’re interested in the role, how it fits into your long-term career goals and your understanding of Bloomberg’s business. Don’t forget to have a few questions prepared for your interviewer. Interviews are a two-way dialogue and you want to be sure the role fits your goals.

You will be notified by a member of Bloomberg’s Talent Acquisition team if the role you applied for requires an assessment. Examples of these assessments include but are not limited to: pre-recorded video interviews, virtual skills assessments, writing tests and technical/coding assessments.

During our technical interviews, you will be assessed on four main pillars:

  • Data Structure Knowledge
  • Algorithms Knowledge
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Communication Skills

Our questions will be open-ended and we’ll invite you to code in whichever coding language you are most comfortable with. We want you to show us how you think and come up with creative solutions. We’ll focus more on your problem-solving skills and coding fluency than on finding the most optimal solution and running code. You can ask your Bloomberg recruiter for more information ahead of an assessment.

Expectations on candidate conduct

At Bloomberg, doing the right thing – by our people, our clients, and our communities – is one of our guiding values. When considering new hires, we look for candidates who share and practice this value.

While we encourage the responsible and ethical use of all resources available to you for research and preparation, we expect candidates to represent themselves accurately and honestly throughout our hiring process, from the information in your resume and applications, to the capabilities demonstrated in assessments, assignments and interviews and through the offer and pre-onboarding processes. This applies equally to all resources candidates may use during the hiring process including, but not limited to, AI.
