Bloomberg Makes FIX and SWIFT Connectivity Available in the Cloud with AWS

April 23, 2024

New York, NY – Bloomberg announced today that its FIX and SWIFT connectivity is now available on Amazon Web Services (AWS), offering customers high-performance, instant, and reliable access to Bloomberg’s suite of connectivity based offerings.

This includes FixNet, which connects a buy-side firm’s Execution and Order Management Systems to Bloomberg’s network of broker destinations across the globe. AWS clients can now seamlessly integrate with FixNet to access over 1,600 sell-side counterparties.

Bloomberg’s SWIFT Service Bureau provides users with access to 11,500 institutions on the SWIFT network. This managed connectivity service provides clients with a cost-effective scalable infrastructure, monitoring tools, access to SWIFT expertise, and Global service teams.

The new cloud-based FIX and SWIFT connectivity utilizes AWS PrivateLink to provide private connectivity between virtual private clouds (VPCs), supported AWS services, and users’ on-premises networks without exposure of data to the public internet.

“By harnessing the capabilities of AWS and Bloomberg, we have established a resilient infrastructure that demands minimal maintenance, thus liberating us from the constant need for upkeep. The extensive array of services and tools offered by AWS enables us to create straightforward yet potent solutions, boasting remarkable availability. This is essential for us as developers, as it enables us to concentrate on development initiatives rather than being sidetracked by infrastructure support tasks,” Gilles Follic, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Machina Capital.

FIX and SWIFT connectivity are a vital part of many business workflows including trading, confirmations, settlements, and payments. These systems require reliable, flexible, and scalable methods to connect to networks and communicate with their users’ counterparts. Alongside system connectivity, customized integration workflows can help bridge the message differences of connecting systems. Customized connectivity and messaging are available with Bloomberg iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) using a number of options including REST APIs, FIX, MQ, SFTP, and SWIFT MT to MX messaging.

Bloomberg’s Enterprise Technology business provides high-quality connectivity and custom integrations with Bloomberg iPaaS, monitoring systems and APIs, helping clients meet their system to system workflow needs.
