Health and well-being

Health and well-being are critically important to Bloomberg. That’s why we offer best-in-class and comprehensive coverage from your first day of employment. Across medical, prescription, dental and vision, this coverage is delivered to employees and dependents with zero annual healthcare contribution and focused on minimizing out-of-pocket costs.

Comprehensive medical plan

Our PPO medical plan requires no healthcare contribution for new hires and all employees who complete a yearly wellness incentive program. The plan provides coverage for both in- and out-of-network providers and in-person, phone and video visits. In-network coverage has no deductible and there are various copays for services.

Dental plan

Bloomberg’s PPO dental plan provides comprehensive coverage with no contribution, with preventive and basic services covered at 100%.

Health advocate

We offer independent, third-party resources to help employees and their families navigate health care and insurance issues, from complex concerns like a life-threatening illness to more straightforward questions like helping to clarify an explanation of benefits.

Prescription drugs

The prescription drug program provides a cost-effective way to purchase prescribed medications, including low copays and out-of-pocket costs.

On-site health services

Experienced health care providers (i.e. physician, nurse practitioner and physician assistant) are available on-site five days per week in our New York and New Jersey offices. Bloomberg’s health clinics provide medical treatment for episodic and urgent illnesses. In addition, the clinics offer biometric screenings and annual flu shots, and they provide support for traveling employees with health guidance and vaccinations. 

Vision care plan

Bloomberg employees and their families covered under the vision plan are offered one free eye exam per year at an in-network provider as well as discounts toward new glasses or contact lenses. Take advantage of a generous frame allowance to find frames that suit your style.

Expert medical opinion

Employees and dependents covered under Bloomberg’s medical plan can connect and consult virtually with a board-certified, expert physician for a second medical opinion, at no cost.

Telemedicine

Bloomberg employees and dependents have 24/7 access to clinical health care via telemedicine across all 50 states. Using video, phone, emails and a mobile app, doctors can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication for certain common illnesses, as well as provide support for dermatology and mental health conditions.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Bloomberg employees and dependents have access (including in-person, virtual, digital and mobile texting) to confidential, short-term counseling and referral services to assist you and your family – including your younger family members – in working through problems, learning about available options and finding reasonable solutions. Areas covered include marital difficulties, financial concerns, stress, anxiety and other areas that may affect mental health.

Emergency medical & security evacuation

As a Bloomberg employee, if you experience a business or personal travel-related emergency outside of your country of domicile or while you are on a short-term overseas assignment, emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help.

Ergonomics

Program that provides you with the knowledge, resources, and tools needed for a safe and comfortable work environment. You have access to an on-line risk assessment as well as virtual or on-site desk assessments (on-site in some office locations) by a certified ergonomist. Employees can order special equipment to meet their ergonomic needs.

Trans Inclusive support

As a firm that is committed to maintaining an inclusive environment, Bloomberg provides transitioning employees with extensive support through the transitioning process. Just as with any life-changing event, we are dedicated to establishing a supportive environment.

Cancer concierge

Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Direct provides expedited access to MSK facilities and medical professionals when employees or their loved ones are diagnosed with cancer. The MSK team will schedule appointments, gather necessary medical records, introduce you to the facility and your care team, and continue to be a resource for employees undergoing treatment at MSK.

Hospital for Special Surgery Concierge

Bloomberg has partnered with Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) to provide employees and their families exclusive and personalized access to HSS providers. The concierge-style service offers a dedicated, single point of contact at HSS to assist with everything from finding the right provider, to scheduling and managing appointments, gathering medical records, and more.

Wellness coaches

Bloomberg employees have free access to work with wellness coaches who will help develop a personalized plan focused on nutrition, weight loss, fitness, stress management, and more. Wellness coaches are available for appointments on-site in New York and New Jersey, as well as virtually there and elsewhere.

Finance

401(k) savings plan

When employees invest in their future, Bloomberg does too. We offer a competitive retirement savings plan to help you build income for the future, including a company match on your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions.

Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and commuter benefits

Our healthcare FSA plan lets you use pretax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare expenses for yourself, your spouse and your eligible dependents. The dependent care FSA allows you to use pretax dollars to cover eligible expenses such as preschool, summer camp, before or after school programs, and adult care for those incapable of self care. In addition, the commuter benefit program allows you to set aside pre-tax funds to pay for qualified mass transit and parking expenses associated with your commute to work.

Disability insurance (short- & long-term)

We offer short-term (26 weeks) disability wage replacement when you are unable to perform your job duties due to illness, injury or an accident. Long-term disability is designed to offer a wage replacement for when you become disabled for an extended period.

Life insurance

Bloomberg provides basic life insurance for all employees at 2x your base salary, up to a maximum benefit of $200,000, paid 100% by the company. Supplemental life insurance can be purchased in intervals from 1x – 8x your total compensation, up to a maximum benefit of $2,000,000.

Accidental death & dismemberment insurance (AD&D)

AD&D insurance covers you if you lose a limb, become permanently disabled or pass away while traveling on approved business. This coverage is in addition to basic life insurance policy and at no cost for Bloomberg employees. You are automatically insured up to ten times your base salary, subject to a maximum amount of $1,000,000.

Well-being rewards

Bloomberg provides reimbursement for eligible well-being-related expenses. Qualified expenses include gym fees, exercise equipment, financial wellness expenses and mindfulness classes, to name a few.

Financial wellness

All employees can receive a free 30-minute consultation with an attorney, CPA or financial advisor through our EAP, and a 25% discount if you choose to continue services beyond the initial 30-minute consultation. We also offer courses and webinars on a variety of topics to support your financial wellness goals through Bloomberg University, as well as classes and education through our benefit partners.

Tuition reimbursement

In addition to providing on-the-job training, courses and programs, Bloomberg provides a tuition reimbursement program of up to $12,000 per calendar year for all job and business-related courses, including certifications.

WFH stipend

Employees new to Bloomberg can set up their Work From Home (WFH) stations with the assistance of a one-time $500 stipend.

Family and life

Time off

Bloomberg offers 20 paid time off days (up to 5 of which may be rolled over each year), a minimum of 11 paid holidays and paid sick days. We also provide leaves of absence to address a variety of personal situations, including family and medical emergencies, jury duty and more.

Fertility support

Bloomberg offers a lifetime benefit of $30,000 for coverage of fertility treatments and in vitro fertilization. If you enroll in Bloomberg’s fertility support program, you get unlimited coverage of fertility-related prescription drugs which do not count against the $30K lifetime coverage. The program also provides 24/7 education and emotional support from fertility nurses.

Adoption & surrogacy assistance

Bloomberg provides reimbursement for eligible adoption and surrogacy-related costs.

Parental leave

Bloomberg offers up to 26 weeks of 100% paid, gender-neutral, parental leave for the primary caregiver to bond and care for your newborn, surrogate or adopted child from day one. Non-primary caregivers are eligible for 4 weeks of 100% paid leave.

Maternity support program

Bloomberg employees have free, confidential access to maternity nurses who can provide support and answer questions around preconception health, pregnancy, newborn care, lactation and more.

Breast milk delivery

Bloomberg offers a free breast milk delivery benefit for breastfeeding parents who are traveling on business. Parents can order a breast milk kit to their hotel and ship or carry their breast milk back home during their business trips.

Autism services

Bloomberg provides coverage of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, including autism diagnostic evaluations, assessment and treatment planning on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

Backup child & elder care

Bloomberg provides access to backup child or elder care, including center-based or in-home care. All care is free of charge. Parents of children ages 6 weeks to 1 year also have access to additional days of care through the Infant Transition program. Backup care days can also be used in exchange for virtual tutoring for your children ages 5-18 years old.

Special needs

Employees with children who have special needs have access to the Special Needs program, a self-directed web-based solution to guide families to better understand, advocate and care for children with special needs using resources to help families navigate the educational system.

College coach

College Coach assists families in how to prepare, apply to, select, and finance a child’s college education. The program includes training workshops, personalized counseling, an on-demand help desk, and a virtual learning center.

Caregiver coaching

Bloomberg caregivers have access to six hours of confidential, action-oriented 1:1 coaching. A coach provides support for a wide variety of issues, such as goal and boundary setting, strategies to address work-life conflict, career-life alignment and stress management throughout a caregiver journey.

Personal excess liability

You can purchase an “umbrella policy” that offers higher coverage limits than they may have with your automobile, homeowners, renters, recreational vehicle, motorcycle or watercraft insurance policies, subject to eligibility requirements.

Pet insurance

Pet insurance helps you cover veterinary expenses so you can provide your pets with the best care possible without worrying about the cost. Insurance covers accidents, illnesses, surgeries, hospitalizations, and prescriptions.

Group legal plan

Bloomberg employees can access comprehensive legal coverage for common legal matters through a nationwide network of more than 13,000 attorneys. Services covered include personal property protection, tax audits, real estate matters, wills and trusts and small claims assistance.

Accident insurance

Bloomberg employees can access accident insurance, which provides a cash benefit for you and your family to help cover expenses resulting from an accident, on or off the job. Expenses include ambulance rides, ER visits, prescriptions and burns.

Critical illness insurance

Bloomberg offers a voluntary benefit that provides a lump sum cash benefit upon the diagnosis of a covered illness like cancer, heart attack, stroke or renal failure.

Home & auto insurance

Bloomberg employees can obtain competitive coverage and special savings, as well as free, no-obligation quotes from up to three leading insurance carriers.

Student loan assistance

Through its partner, Bloomberg offers employees the ability to refinance student loans, which can potentially save you money. The service refinances federal and/or private student and parent loans at low rates, creating compelling savings for borrowers.

Bicycle commuting and storage

Bloomberg employees who bike to work have access to dedicated bike storage rooms and areas. In addition, as a voluntary benefit, Bloomberg provides bike commuters a small monthly allowance to pay for bike-related expenses, such as maintenance and safety equipment.
