The majority of Blocher's fortune is derived from her 30 percent stake in Ems-Chemie Holding, a publicly traded manufacturer of chemicals and polymers. The Herrliberg, Switzerland-based company had revenue of 2 billion Swiss francs ($2 billion) in 2016.

Blocher holds the shares through her 49.9 percent stake in Emesta Holding, according to company spokesman Conrad Gericke. Her sister, Magdalena Martulo-Blocher, also owns 49.9 percent of Emesta Holding and another sister, Miriam Blocher, owns the remaing 0.2 percent of Emesta and an 8.9 percent stake in Ems-Chemie directly, according to the company's 2016 annual report. Emesta owns 60.8 percent Ems-Chemie's, according to the report.

Rahel Blocher was born to Silvia and Christoph Blocher in Mannedorf, Switzerland. She studied economics at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Christoph Blocher is a retired Air Force Regiment Commander and Colonel. He has been the vice president of the Swiss People's Party, the country's largest political party, since March 2008.

Rahel began working at Clariant and Elma Electronic in 2004. Since 2009, she has headed Robinvest, her father's investment company. She received shares in Ems-Chemie when her father was elected to the Federal Council of the Swiss Government in 2004. Blocher is also the vice president of the Stiftung Schweizer Musikinsel Rheinau, a foundation created by her father.

With her sister Magdalena, also a billionnaire, Blocher is the majority shareholder of Ems-Chemie. Their siblings Markus and Miriam sold shares over the years to Rahel and Magadalena.

She lives in Switzerland with her family.
