Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Elon Musk, Chairman of Tesla Motors, discusses the company’s investment in Europe and why it is a good fit. He appears on Bloomberg Television's “The Pulse.” (Source: Bloomberg)

Elon musk and asked him how he thinks his company will fare here in europe.

There are a couple of reasons why i think this car is better suited to europe than the u.s. the distances in europe are typically smaller.

The convenience factor is greater.

Petrol prices are very high over here.

That cost ditch rble is really twice what it is in the u.s. and in europe, there is also at the risk of offending a few people in the u.s., a greater appreciation for a hydrorefined premium car.

I'm glad to hear it.

That is going to come back to bite me.

I'm sure it will.

I think that is accurate.

You clearly are going to have to make a great deal of investment to make that happen.

The charging stations.

There has to be a significant cost associated with that.

Do you have any idea, can you quantify the costs associated with making europe work?

It is going to be quite a significant cost.

I'm expecting that it is probably a few hundred million dollars, at least on that order for all of europe.

It is going to be a huge investment in charging infrastructure and centers.

Obviously stores like this.

And then over time we'll establish car manufacturing, vehicle engineering.

About 1/3 of our engineering development team in california is from europe.

It would actually be arguably a higher proportion except a lot of people don't want to move away from their friends and family.

There is an opportunity to establish an engineering center in europe and actually design cars here.

We appreciate the better things in life on this side of the atlantic, don't we.

Up next, david tweed.

We'll take you behind the wheel of a high thrill -- ?
