Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Andrew Zimbalist, sports economist at Smith College, talks about U.S. tax breaks that benefit college sports programs. Many schools demand hundreds or thousands of dollars in donations as a condition for buying tickets at face value. Under U.S. law, the fans can then write off 80 percent of the mandatory donations when they itemize their tax deductions. (Source: Bloomberg)
