Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) –- In today’s “Insight & Action,” Adam Johnson takes a look at U.S. stock markets and where you should be putting your money on Bloomberg Television’s “Street Smart.” (Source: Bloomberg)

Today we are going to talk about an absolutely brutal day and what we have to do to deal with this thing.

There are the numbers, so we are all on the same page.

Look at the nasdaq, down 2.6%. the dow industrials was a steady slide.

Unless you sold in the morning, we took a lot of pain on the long side.

We need to figure out how to deal with us.

And by the way, we will not get help in the month of february.

Since 1928, february has been a tossup.

52% of the time, stocks are up.

42%, stocks are down.

If stocks were up in january, individual stocks, not the market, forget the individual market, they bucked the trend.

If stocks were less volatile, they again bucked the trend.

That is interesting.

Add all of that together?

Earnings going up?

We had a screen of our own.

Healthways, juniper, netflix.

The point is, the markets and individual names that matter, if you think i am wrong?

Just those 10 names are up 11.3%, year to date, versus the s&p 500. the point is that it is hard out there, but stock aching matters and there are ways to try to mitigate the pain, but we have to drill down and be specific.

I posted those on twitter.

Take a look, send me your tweets.

Let's talk this through.

We are going to take a quick break.

We are going to talk more about
