Sept. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, talks about U.S. initial jobless claims, durable goods orders and economic growth data released today. Applications for jobless benefits decreased 26,000 to 359,000 in the week ended Sept. 22, the lowest since July, Labor Department figures showed today. Durable goods orders, a measure of demand for capital equipment and machinery like turbines, fell 13 percent in August, and the economy grew 1.3 percent in the second quarter, the Commerce Department reported.
