July 30 (Bloomberg) -- On today's "DrillDown," Cory Johnson examines the numbers behind Amazon's jobs growth on Bloomberg Television's "Bloomberg West." (Source: Bloomberg)

I toured the amazon center, i saw lots of "50 shades of grey." only you.

I think what is going on with amazon, the president talked about jobs and these are working-class jobs and they are not high-tech, skilled worker jobs.

When you talk about amazon in the course of the last six years, we've seen the business grow and the stock grow.

Both the raw numbers of people employed as well as the growth rates have taken off in terms of year-over-year employment growth.

But this speaks to the kinds of jobs available in this kind of economy.

When you talk about high skilled, high-paying worker jobs, this is not what we are talking about grade work that has high salaries for people with low educations trainees are manufacturing jobs of the lowest paying variety.

We are not talking about engineers or software developers.

Are these the kind of jobs you would expect in a tech economy?

There are not of -- not a lot of technology companies hiring a lot of people.

That's one of the things that makes amazon so unique.

Some of the older, slower growing companies in the knology workforce, ibm, hewlett-packard, oracle, those are the monster companies from a decade ago.

Still very important companies.

We are going to have the oracle cfo on the show in just a bit.

Those are the big hirers but they are not the fastest growing.

Let's talk about the fastest- growing companies.

Lex companies adding the most are under the radar.

Among them is a connecticut- based company, a data company in the chip packing pidgeon -- chip packing business.

Google is rapidly increasing workforces.

Most of those companies are smaller, faster growing companies.

Cory johnson, thank you.
