Bloomberg news bureau chief joins us now from detroit with more.

What is going on here?

Enterprises one of those companies that set the are getting renters, -- they are getting renters returning their cars early.

It has been the question of electric cars.

There hasn't been that many sold, considerate whole of the have riddled sale.

This has been one of the issues.

Am i going to be able to drive the car where i need to going back and am i going to be able to find the charging station along the way?

Are they just not telling their customers enough in detail on what they need to do?

Probably not.

If you look at the number of charging stations available in the country, it is still relatively small compared to the number of gasoline stations.

To be sure that where you are going, where you need to be, somewhere along the way there is a publicly available charging station, it can be a valid concern.

You have to map it out and be sure you knew where you were going and what is available.

If there was something unexpected it could mess up your whole trip.

Absolutely it could.

I know the president said he wants one million electric cars on the road by 2015. right now we have 150,000 of those cars on the road.

Is he going to fall short of that goal?

Almost certainly it looks that way.

So far this year they have sold about 67,000 of the electric plug-ins.

That is out of 11 million.

He is including things that use green fleet vehicles that try to give more flexibility.

Even then it is questionable whether we are able to meet that chemical.

The public has not been accepting of these vehicles.

If we don't have more people buying these vehicles it makes it hard to meet the fuel economy requirements.

What is it going to take?

And better battery, more availability of charging.

Basically what you need to put your gasoline in your car.

Somebody told you there was a shortage of gasoline, you would be left driving a gasoline car.

I need the confidence that i get my car, i drive all day, i come home and nothing bad will happen.
