June 24 (Bloomberg) -- How do you say it: Law-yer or Loyer? 73% of people surveyed in the United States say "loyer," while 22%, mostly in the southeastern states, say "law-yer." Another 5% use both interchangeably. That's according to a larger study on dialect by Joshua Katz, a student in statistics at North Carolina State University. In addition to New York City's 8,336,697 residents, an estimated 47 million tourists visit the metropolis each year. So Bloomberg Law took to the streets of Manhattan to see how people from around the world pronounce "lawyer."
