April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Today is the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang. What better way to celebrate than by placing the car on top of the Empire State Building? For the first time since 1965, the automaker put a Mustang convertible on the 86th floor observation deck. How exactly did they do that? The car was cut into pieces in Michigan, shipped in crates to New York, brought to the top of the building in the elevator, and reassembled by a crew in freezing cold temperatures during April's cold snap. The event coincides with the New York Auto Show.
