Economy in U.S. Expands 2.5%; Jobless Claims Drop

Aug. 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Gross domestic product rose in the second quarter at a 2.5 percent annualized rate, up from an initial estimate of 1.7 percent, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. Jobless claims in the week ended Aug. 24 dropped 6,000 to 331,000 from a revised 337,000 the week before, the Labor Department said today. Betty Liu reports on Bloomberg Television's "In the Loop."
