Oct. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Mansoor Hamayun, Partner and Director of New Markets at BBOXX, discusses providing new energy sources for communities without electricity and their goal to give 20 million people energy by 2020. He appears on Bloomberg Television's “The Pulse.” (Source: Bloomberg)

Delivers energy to people who don't have it.

It is able to power things like l.d. lights, tv's, radios.

Suing machines.

It is basically a grid in a box.

The trickle down effect of this must be massive.

Do you have any idea the impact that it has?

I don't have exact numbers.

It has a real transformtive effect.

You can see that nearly every week, every day when our community is given electricity for the first time, what impact that has.

Especially when you consider one of the main ways that money is leaving the community is through diesel and candles, etc.

All of that money is saved.

What is limiting the supply of these boxes for communities?

Are you supply constrained?

Financially constrained?

Definitely not.

There is a few different things here.

We're operating in some of the harshest places in the world.

There are 1.4 billion who don't have electricity currently.

We have to become the retail network in they see countries and the logistics network in these countries and the financors of these products as well.

The basic infrastructure does not exist often and that is one of the main -- from a global perspective, we are active in 14 ones at the moment.

We open in a new country every six weeks.

There is no lack of demand.

What we are facing is to be able to reach true penetration levels in the market and those are hindered by infrastructure challenges of the countries.

This is incredibly robust.

Once you send them out, they largely take care of themselves?

We put intelligence into these boxes.

We realize people who are buying these products are putting a substantial piece of their -- amount of their savings into our product.

We need to provide that reliability to people.

The infrastructure is to be able to support the product and services afterwards.

Our real job in the market really starts when the product is sold.

Especially under a lot of our countries, we are selling our product and payment plans.

We're not earning our money until the payment plans are complete.

Therefore it is in our interest to keep consumers happy and the products working.

Thank you very much for coming and talking us through.

It looks like an incredible product.

We're going to take a break.

"the first word" is up next for our viewers the second hour of "the pulse" is coming up.

We'll talk with elon musk.
