May 31 (Bloomberg) -- The Singaporean government has been trying to reduce the number of vehicles on the road this year leading to a surge in the cost of car ownership. A Toyota Camry in Singapore can cost nearly as much as a house in the U.S. Singapore tries to control congestion by limiting auto permits. This year, the government has lowered the number, pushing up the cost of a permit to as much as $68,000. (Source: Bloomberg)
