Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The number of applications for U.S. unemployment benefits unexpectedly dropped last week to 364,000, the lowest since April 2008, according to the Labor Department. Meanwhile, U.S. gross domestic product climbed at a 1.8 percent annual rate in the third quarter, less than previously estimated, revised Commerce Department figures showed.
