Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- David Herro, chief investment officer of Harris Associates LP, talks about the firing of Olympus Corp. Chief Executive Officer Michael C. Woodford after he questioned $687 million in advisory fees for the 2008 takeover of Gyrus Group Plc. Southeastern Asset Management Inc., which owns 5 percent of Olympus, wants an independent probe into the fees paid by the Japanese company, the U.S.-based fund said in a letter to the board it made public today. Herro, speaking with Lisa Murphy on Bloomberg Television's "Street Smart," also discusses Harris's investment strategy. (Source: Bloomberg)
