May 17 (Bloomberg) -- Michael Montesano, a visiting research fellow at Singapore's Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, talks with Bloomberg's Susan Li about the political unrest in Thailand. Battles between Thai troops and protesters escalated yesterday in downtown Bangkok as Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva vowed to disperse his opponents from the city’s business district. At least 30 people have been killed and more than 215 wounded since the government ordered the army to surround a business district as large as New York’s Central Park on May 13. (Source: Bloomberg)
