May 17 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Haslinda Amin reports on political violence in central Bangkok. Battles between Thai troops and protesters escalated as Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva vowed to disperse his opponents from the city’s business district. The army moved to seal off an area as large as New York’s Central Park four days ago. Explosions and gunfire rang out at the protest site as the military declared two "live-fire zones" in which "terrorists" could be shot on sight. (Source: Bloomberg)
