Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Chiang Pin-kung, Taiwan’s top envoy for China who chairs the Taipei-based Straits Exchange Foundation, speaks with Bloomberg's Paul Gordon about the benefits of improved cross-strait relations between the two nations. Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou is seeking better ties with China, the island’s biggest trading partner, to help pull the economy out of a recession. Relations between Taiwan and China have improved since Ma took office in May 2008 and dropped the pro-independence stance of his predecessor. China claims the island as part of its territory.
