Biggest home price increase projected in 2014: Cumberland metro

Forecast 4-year price increase: 16.2 percent
Current median price: $98,000
Prices to reach trough in: 2010 Q3
Median family income: $50,100
Population: 99,740

In the first three months of the year, prices in the Cumberland metro were down 14.4 percent year-on-year, but this trend may be short-lived, report the National Association of Realtors. Prices are expected to increase more quickly here than in other parts of Maryland, but they'll be weighed down by unemployment, which rose again to 9.1 percent in June, from 8.4 percent in May.
