Ex-President, U.N. Special Envoy to Haiti
The former U.S. President, who is never far off the front page, returns to Davos this year with a new mandate: Along with former President George W. Bush, Clinton was appointed on Jan. 16 by President Obama to lead a major fundraising and humanitarian relief effort for earthquake-stricken Haiti. In a Davos speech on Jan. 27, Clinton urged attendees to give cash quickly to fund food and water distribution and commit to long-term investment to help rebuild Haiti. He also weighed in on some of the political issues of the moment, lending support to the reappointment of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and urging Congress to move forward on legislation to overhaul U.S. financial regulation.
