The first Peccato clothing store in Berlin was opened by husband-and-wife team Monika and Stefan Roggatz in 2006. Two years earlier the couple had moved from eastern Germany's Frankfurt-am-Oder, near the Polish border, and were inspired by Berlin's thriving fashion and arts scene. "Monika always had the look for good style and loved to style friends for various occasions," Stefan says. "We thought: Why not start a business of our own?" Peccato sources clothes mainly from Germany, Scandinavia, Turkey, Poland, Italy, and France. Its outlet in Friedrichshain derives its décor from Berlin flea markets. "We wanted to design a store with a warm atmosphere, like one has in his own living room," Stefan says. In 2008, the couple opened a second location in Berlin and now plans to open stores in Leipzig and Potsdam over the next several years.
