Dimensional Fund Advisors CEO

2004-08 Giving* $309 million

New to list Booth, a previously little known mutual fund company CEO, and his wife, Suzanne, gave $300 million in November to the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business, where he sits on the board and earned his MBA. The school will now bear his name. The gift to bolster the school's endowment is among the largest ever to a U.S. university and the most ever to a business school. The Booths also gave the MBA powerhouse $10 million in 1997 to support the construction of a campus building. In 2004, the family gave $9 million to the University of Kansas to fund a Booth Family Hall of Athletics. The couple say they share an interest in history, which they express through private contributions to educational institutions and art restoration projects. In 1998, the Booths created the Friends of Heritage Preservation, which acts as a rapid response team for art preservation initiatives encompassing everything from entire historical sites to single works of art.
